Firstly, my apologies we missed you in April - we were a little busy and thus didn't have time to sit and write the monthly blog post, so, I will update you on goings on from April as well as May! You may have seen at the start of April we had our annual 'April Fools Joke', which this year was the installation of a new 'dance' pole in the front bar. Surprisingly, everyone loved it, so perhaps we ought to install one for real!? Can you imagine, it wouldn't take many Spingo's to get people on there!

Also in April, we began prep for Flora Day, which involved several brews including Flora Daze, Special and Middle - we go through a hell of a lot of ale on Flora Day and so needed to be prepared! This meant Ben, our brewer, was occupied for most of April in the brewery.
Onto May!
At the beginning of May, on the 8th, we had Flora Day. Now for those of you not in the know, Flora Day is basically our busiest day of the season - the entire town gathers to celebrate, dance, drink, and just have a good time more than anything. Flora Day is held on the 8th May each year, so if you didn't get the chance to come along this year, save the date for 2027! We also made a blog to help you plan your day.

Also in May, we held HeartBeats festival, organised by pub patron Kay Harvey. Held on 3rd May, the festival raised funds for British Heart Foundation and the Sunrise Appeal (an appeal close to our hearts at this time). It was a brilliant day with local acts coming together to put on a show for the public, and with everyone's support we raised a whopping £4,104! Isn't that fantastic?

And then, (there's more fundraising this month!), we were host to Odds & Sods and the Stuns'ls from Mevagissey, who sang us some good old sea shanties and in doing so raised a further £503 for the Sunrise Appeal! We are so delighted to be part of these fundraisers, and happy to be supporting local, talented music acts such as these wonderful groups.
Speaking of music, we have some exciting gigs coming up for you! Cobermouth just released their gig date for September - these guys are a nu-metal band who are sure to impress, and bring a vibe to Helston that hasn't been seen before. Ticket link is here.

Also, at the end of June on the 27th we have Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys playing. These guys are a fantastic Queen tribute band and are bound to keep you dancing all night long. Tickets are available here.
That's all for now. We'll catch up with you at the end of June!
