June at the Blue Anchor Inn

June is here, and with it has come some absolutely scorching weather...and also some foggier, wet days too! Thankfully, we have indoor and outdoor (sheltered) seating so the weather hasn't fussed us too much. We had a huge array of music acts this month, from local young talent Alf Saunders, to the renowned Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys, who were an absolute blast! You can watch coverage of their gig here.
For those who have visited us recently, you may have seen there is scaffolding up on one side of the pub - never fear, this is simply No52 B&B next door having the roof repaired after damage caused during Storm Goretti at the start of the year! You may have also noticed a change in the pubs appearance...the hanging baskets are back! Thank you Helston Town Council as always for providing these beautiful baskets and making the pub look so bright and floral.
Now, back to music. Yes, we've had some big acts so far this year, especially with Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys this month, but the fun doesn't stop with them! That's right folks, our most anticipated event of the year is on its way - Helstonbury music festival! 4 days of local talent, real ale, and just bleddy brilliant fun really. You can find out more information about Helstonbury over on their Facebook page.
Outside of the pub, myself and Ben have taken some time to network and support local events (and some a bit further away too!). I was lucky to be able to compete at Royal Cornwall Show this year on one of my four-legged friends, before the show was cancelled on it's final day, and then just a couple of weeks later myself and Ben were off up to Ascot for a day at the races. That trip was entirely possible due to one of our amazing partners, Peroni. It was such a highlight for us as a business to be sent on this VIP trip, and we are eternally grateful after such a difficult year, both in the pub (these new tax hikes are testing us!), and in our personal lives (recovering from my breast cancer).
Anyway, back in the pub, we've had an influx of private bookings recently here at the Blue Anchor Inn - it's lovely that we're able to celebrate special occasions with so many of you! For those not in the know, we're able to host private functions in the skittle alley on our premises. If you're interested, just pop us an email, and we'll get back to you.
And finally....you lot have got Ben working overtime at the minute! Our stock of Spingo Special and Extra Special has been exhausted in a short period of time - this hot weather clearly encouraged you lot to have a few extra pints after work (well deserved after a days work in this heat and humidity). This does mean, unfortunately, that our Special & Extra Special are out of stock for a little while whilst new batches are brewed and sent off to be bottled. It also means our Mixed Case currently doesn't include any Special, but instead contains 3x bottles each of Middle, Bens Stout, Jubilee IPA, & Flora Daze. Sorry all, but again a massive thank you for choosing to support the pub! #SupportLocal!
That's all from us for now - we'll be back in July with another riveting pub update.
Stay cool, and support your local pubs this summer.
Jenine & Ben x
