July at the Blue Anchor Inn

July - arguably our busiest summer month.

This month, the pub saw it's largest music event of the year so far; Helstonbury.

Helstonbury is organised by the amazing Paul Turton and his team. This year, the festival was held from 16th - 19th July, and it was a HIT! We saw live music from renowned local bands, such as M2, High Voltage, Jake Rivers as Elvis, Will Keating, Kerosene Cocktail, and so many more.

The pub was practically alive over those 4 days; the bars jam packed and the aged walls curved around the bodies of our patrons, beer taps constantly on the flow, windows open with the dreamy sound of acapella and sea shanties drifting out into the street like the pub spilling its secrets. It truly is a magical time for us. As lovely as it is to have the pub busy and well-supported, the main thing about Helstonbury is its fundraising efforts, and this year the festival raised a total of £13,500. After running costs, it still leaves a massively generous portion to be donated to local charities, and for that we are eternally thankful to Paul and his team for running this event. We have some more big events coming up in the next couple of months, which are worth noting down now so you don't forget, or miss out on tickets in some cases.

We have our WILD WEST! night on Friday 21st August, with live music from 7pm from Jonny Tristram, and later on in the evening, Cornish Cowboys. Fancy dress is massively encouraged - we wanna see those boots and hats y'all!

Later down the line in September (I know it seems far away now, but trust me, it'll be here soon) we have our annual St Julia's Hospice Fundraiser on the 13th September, and we have nu-metal band, Cober Mouth, performing at their annual homecoming event on the 26th September, with a huge line-up of support acts too. You will need to have tickets to come to this event, so please book them here.

You'll all be delighted to know that all of our ales are now back in stock! Extra Special came back from bottling this week and is now available once again online in cases of 12. Remember, when you order from us you are supporting a small, locally owned business, and every order goes back into keeping the pub open!
