March at the Blue Anchor Inn

March - how is that flown by so quickly? I write this on the 1st of April, as March genuinely went by so fast!
Thankfully, March has seen the Blue Anchor get a little busier, as we head into Spring, with everyone taking advantage of bank holidays and the good weather March brings us. At the start of the month, we celebrated St Piran's Day, with a Cornish speaking session hosted by our lovely locals, and of course the Trelawny Shout on St Piran's Day itself - you can watch the shout here. Then, we had our annual Sea Shanty Festival, organised by pub patron Tim Hague, on the 7th March, where we saw an array of talented, local musicians perform. The event raised a brilliant £742 for the Sunrise Centre, Treliske, who are a local charity supporting cancer patients across Cornwall. A massive thank you to Tim for organising the event, and to all of you who came out to support the pub - without you, the pub, and events like these, wouldn't be able to run.
Speaking of music, at the start of March we released tickets for our Good Old Fashioned Lover Boys concert on Saturday 27th June! These are £12.50pp (no under 18s allowed), and can be purchased here. This is guaranteed to be a brilliant night, so we suggest you purchase your tickets in advance as there will be very few tickets available on the night.

Later on in March, we also celebrated Mothers Day, with live music from Tori Chilcott, who was an absolute delight to watch perform. We regularly have Tori in for special days like this throughout the year, so be sure to keep an eye on our events page to see what's on.
I have to note that, during March, we hit a MAJOR milestone on the pub Facebook page - we reached 10,000 followers! 10,000 people following our little pub here in Helston, Cornwall...isn't that astonishing? Whilst this may seem unimportant to some, it's essential to remember that, by having a better social media presence, the pub is seen by more people online, which correlates to footfall, and therefore also pints sold. So again, a huge thank you to all of you who like, comment and share our posts. You're keeping the pub going!
To finish off the month, we had the legendary local trio, Tres Ombres, perform some live music for us. A pleasant way to finish the month; on a high note.
Throughout the month, Ben has been busy in the brewery, working on producing more Spingo Middle ale as per usual - as you can likely guess, it's our best seller both online and in the pub!
As April, and busier times loom ahead (Flora Day is nearly upon us!), we find ourselves growing more excited. We can't wait to see more of our loyal Spingo drinkers in the coming months.
Anyway, that's all from me for now.
Until next month!
